Summary/Abstract: With the opening of the Union Fashion House (Moscow), similar institutions appear in major cultural centres of the USSR (Leningrad, Riga, Kiev, Lvov, Vilnius, Minsk, Tbilisi and other). According to the Order of the Council of Ministers of the Moldavian SSR of November 24, 1953, the latter assumed the responsibility to establish a Fashion House in Chisinau in 1954. The institution’s obligation was to offer aid to factories, to carry out controls on improving clothing models etc. The Fashion House from Chisinau developed rapidly. It participated in international competitions and the International Congress of Fashion. The institution had sewing workshops, where dresses, stage costumes etc. Were made to order. Chisinau Fashion House was a genuine cultural centre for apparel, which influenced the aesthetictaste of the population, so that the development of the domainis closely linked to the given institution.
