Within this framework it was approved the status of the Society and it was chosen its leadership, Kuun Géza becoming the president. The status, with small changes, claimed by the Internal Minister, entered into force on 8 December 1880.In this article we presented the first three years of working of the society, when organizational efforts are made, being established the directions for the next decades. They were approved the rules of operation of the Steering Committee, its divisions were set, the first artifacts were recorded in the inventories of the museum (their list was already sent in June 1881 towards the National Museum of Budapest, according to the status). The artifacts were obtained by donations, acquisitions, archaeological diggings. It was obtained the first seat for the museum (even if temporarily), the archaeological research began at Sarmizegetusa, numerous papers took place, the first number of the Society’s year-book appeared in 1882 and, in 1883, were made some changes in the status.
