Summary/Abstract: The article presents and analyzes the relationship between ethnology and missionary work in the sphere of empirical studies implemented by missionaries and the collections of objects created by them as a result of the study of "exotic cultures". The author raises questions about the possible uses of the collections in modern times overcoming aesthetization by exposing and presenting these objects with a view of their importance in the context of the respective culture.
