Summary/Abstract: Entrepreneurs are expected to follow trends and to adjust management system to market conditions. In an era of rapid change and hardly predictable environment it is an extremely complicated task. Companies implement a variety of standards and adapt available concepts to respond to the needs from the market effectively. The latest versions of the ISO standards of quality and environmental management seem to combine the need of respond to the expectations of customers and ensure an adequate level of protection of the environment with the idea of sustainable development of the organization. They changed their optics from a narrow view of the key processes related to the quality issues to a comprehensive approach to business management. The change in thinking about quality and the environment and understanding of management in terms of social and environmental aspects causes that company is closer to the idea of sustainability. The aim of the paper is to analyze the new updated standards of quality and environmental management in relation to the possibility of implementation of the concept of sustainable development in business organizations.
