Implementation of sustainable development concept on rural areas – case study

Summary/Abstract: A problem of sustainable development on rural areas is particularly important seeing that it takes up over 90% of the territory of our country including a large natural resource which is used by the whole society. Therefore it is necessary for rural areas to develop in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. The article presents the issue of implementation of the sustainable development concept in the rural communes located on area of the region I of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship. By using indicators of sustainable development, the realization of activities aiming to achieve environmental, social and economic and integrated order was presented. The study showed local differentiation in reaching each order. It was determined by endogenic conditions in the communes of the region.
