Summary/Abstract: The initial assumption of this paper is the statement that adaptive process is created by changes in business environment. Companies differ only when speed of reaction for changes is taken into account. As a result, companies diverge in ability to exploit more advanced sources of competitive advantage. The main goal of this paper is to classify organizations and their strategies in terms of their capabilities to make fast and appropriate decisions referring to business changes , as well as identifying competency in exploiting advanced sources of competitive advantage. Four strategies have been identified (adaptive, visionary, opportunistic, passive) as well as three levels of competing. The strategies and levels are theoretical construct which will be empirically verified.
