Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with establishing the need to prioritize category of politeness in foreignlanguage teaching and particularly concentrates on the tasks and challenges it presentsto philology. Considerations on philological language competence constitute backgroundfor claiming postulates referring to didactics and integration of language politeness inphilological education. These postulates implying concepts of intercultural communicationand language awareness should contribute to further discussions on nature of foreignlanguage teaching at philological studies.
