Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with establishing the need to prioritize spoken language in foreign language teaching and particularly concentrates on the tasks and challenges it presents to neophilology. Due to the fact that this aspect has not been studied thoroughly yet, it is argued that the spoken language should receive proper attention, especially nowadays. Based on wide scientific literature, this paper also attempts to depict the problems of teaching spoken language to foreign language learners using personal language experience (German) gained abroad.
