Summary/Abstract: POLYTRAUMA REPRESENTS A MAJOR CAUSE OF MORBIDITY OF MORTALITY IN MODERNTRAUMATOLOGY. ALTHOUGH NO UNIFIED DEFINITION HAS BEEN DEVELOPED YET, THE MAINPHYSIOPATHOLOGIC CHARACTERISTIC OF POLYTRAUMA HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED : THE SYSTEMICINFLAMMATORY RESPONSE SYNDROME ( SIRS), WHICH MAY HAVE A FAVORABLE OUTCOME, OR ITCAN EVOLVE UP TO MULTIPLE SYSTEM AND ORGAN FAILURE ( MSOF) OR EVEN DEATH. THEINFLAMMATORY STATUS CAN BE DESCRIBED USING BIOCHEMICAL MARKERS AND ITS DURATIONAND INTENSITY DEPENDS ON THE OUTCOME OF EACH OF THE ASSOCIATED INJURIES. THIS PAPERPRESENTS A CASE OF A POLYTRAUMA PATIENT WITH A PERSISTENT INFLAMMATORY SYNDROMEWHO DEVELOPED MAJOR LOCAL COMPLICATIONS, INCLUDING SEPTIC ONES, THUSDEMONSTRATING THE VALUE OF PROPER MONITORING AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH OFPOLYTRAUMA
