Summary/Abstract: This study deals with the paternal ancestry of Vladislav, ruler of Wallachia in the years 1523 and 1524. His father, also named Vladislav, has not been known in the historiography as ruler of the country. The author shows, based on documents from 1523 and 1524 and on other ones, issued later on, in 1618 and 1648, that Vladislav the father was a ruler of Wallachia from August 1490 to December 1491. He interrupted the reign of Vlad the Monk (1482−1495). Taking into consideration the contemporary documents from the reign of Vlad the Monk as well, a reign of Vladislav − father is (far) more likely to have occurred in the period March to August 1491.
