Summary/Abstract: The paper aims at analysing the public e-procurement issue. The electronic tools that support competitive tendering are promoted by European Union because they can significantly simplify the way procurement is conducted, reduce waste and deliver better procurement outcomes (lower price, better quality) and ensure transparency of tender selection. Much of the article is devoted to describing EU documentation that make the use of e-procurement progressively mandatory. An important part of the paper brings up the topic of electronic tools that are approved by Polish law (specially electronic auction, electronic bidding, dynamic purchase system). The last part of the paper is focused on the level of electronic tools usage in public procurement in Poland. In spite of the fact that free electronic platforms were put into use four years ago, elec-tronic tools in public procurement aren’t popular and they are used reluctantly. The polish authorities are going to put into operation a new platform with product catalogues that will enable buying prod-ucts that are cheaper than official limits.
