Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was the examination of metric charasteristics (factore structure, reliability and validity) of CRPBI-57, a shortened and an adapted Croatian version of Children’s Report of Parental Behavior Inventory (CRPBI). An assessment of adolescents’ perceptions of parental behavior in CRPBI-57 is performed in three basic dimensions: acceptance, psychological control and behavioral control. The questionnaire consists of 57 items and includes two identical versions (the version for assessment of parental behavior of mother and the version for assessment of parental behavior of father). The research sample consisted of 425 participants, 3rd and 4th grade students from five high schools in Sarajevo (200 female and 225 male). The average age of participants was M=18 (SD=.72). The construct validity of the questionnaire was examined by principal component analysis with Varimax rotation. The obtained results indicate the existance of three interpretable factors explaining 33% of variance of perceived parental behavior of mother and 37% of variance of perceived parental behavior of father. Factor analyses generally confirmed the hypothesized CRPBI-57 structure, showing that the questionnaire measures the original three aspects of parental behavior. All dimensions showed a satisfactory level of internal consistency, ranged from .71 to .85. The criteron validity was examined using two external criteria: self-esteem and satisfaction with life. In conclusion, the obtained results indicate that CRPBI-57 has satisfactory metric characteristics and can be used with different samples and in various areas of research where the parental behavior is relevant construct.
