Summary/Abstract: The analysis of a number of ideas and themes in the paintings of Goya and Veličković made it possible for us to synthesize four basic themes in their works, which viewed from the aspect of their authorship, understanding of life and world speak about the man and his existence: 1) The suffering of mankind after the first sin (Adam); 2) Fratricide and revenge (Cain); 3) Treason and sullying the worthiest in the world (Judah); 4) The man’s uninterrupted seduction by the Evil (Devil). The themes are certainly not new; they are found in other artists and in other epochs, but with refined chiseling of Goya and Veličković’s imagination, they reach unprecedented creative sublimation and new glistening, like a sunbeam on the water surface.
