Summary/Abstract: The research from the field of urban history diversified in the recent years including new approaches and multiple perspectives. In the process of territorial expansion of the towns in late medieval times, an important role was owed to the religious edifices, which emerged along new neighborhoods. The church of Saint Nicholas the Poor from Iaşi is a good example. Built in the second half of the XVIIth century, in Muntenime neighborhood, by a local boyar, the church was, throughout its existence, the center of community life in the middle of which it had been built. The existence of the edifice, as it results from documentary sources, but also from the title - St. Nicholas the Poor - has oscillated between two facts: impoverished and degraded state and the various complaints made against those who brought shortcomings by using the parish goods. The history of St. Nicholas the Poor Church has ended in the early nineteenth century, after a difficult existence, when the authorities have taken several measures of landscaping, including the demolition of the church. Today the place where was built the edifice no more reminds of it, just excavations (the discovery of its foundations) confirms the written sources.
