Commentary: Innovation Crisis of Polish Manufacturing Firms

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to show how the current economic downturn and the 2008 economic crisis affected the innovation activities of Polish manufacturing firms. As Poland is a catch-up country with low innovation potential and capabilities, innovation activities of Polish firms are more affected than other incumbent EU countries. This increases the threat of growing disparities in innovation capabilities and may lead to divergence in well-being.
