Summary/Abstract: „Tinutul Pădurenilor” distinguishes itself as an authentic ethnological area, which has succeeded to keep its traditions, customs, linguistic elements, popular clothing and garments, that the inhabitants claim as being their legacy from their ancestors, the Dacians. These isolated lands are located in a hard reachable area, which protected its people from any major external influences, aiding the unaltered perpetuation of its archaic legacy in this ever changing modern world. A land known since olden times, the so called „Tinutul Pădurenilor” has always been best known for its richness in iron ore and its dense forests, but also for its hardened blacksmiths and mineworkers. The current danger is represented by the massive depopulation of the villages and therefore the risk of losing their traditions which made them unique among the Romanian populations and even beyond the national borders. Another danger, at the level of the folk costume, is represented by its „modernisation” with foreign motifs, such being the case in the Banat region.
