Summary/Abstract: This study examined the romantic motifs in the three Lazarević’s realistic short stories. Applying phenomenological method and Georges Poulet’s critical theses, we have read Lazarević’s short stories: „The Wind“, „The People Will Reward All of This“ and „To Matins with Father for the First Time“. The hypothesis about the survival of romantic elements within Lazarevic’s realistic prose was confirmed. We recognized the romantic infiltration into the realistic poetic conscience. The subjective character of experience was created by various romantic phenomena: the God, sky, storm, light, tears, kisses, ideal, infinity, love, heart, soul, pride, passion, sound, darkness, night, dream. The romantic ideals – patriotism and love – were incorporated into the realistic text. The rebellious spite was valued. Love was shown in a typical romantic context that consisted of betrayal, jealousy, crime, fatality and misfortune. Poulet’s romantic idea about thought centrality was recognized in „The Wind“. The literary hero was both the center and the circle, the focal point of light and unlimited light expansion. Love was revealed as an internal ontological increase, an amazing stretch of time and space - to eternity. We concluded that Lazarević’s narrative poetics could be defined by the dynamic process between romanticism and realism.
