Summary/Abstract: The issue of application of modern technologies in infertility treatment has not been regulated in any normative act for a long time. Anticipating the problems related with the conditions of donation, harvesting, processing, testing, safekeeping and distribution of germ cells and embryos designated for use in the medically assisted procreation procedure, the lawmaker implementedthe Infertility Treatment Act into the polish legal system.The main aim of the regulation of the medically assisted procreation procedure is to guarantee respect for the right to private and family life, with particular consideration of legal protection of life, health, dignity and children’s rights. This paper presents the influence of the Infertility Treatment Act on the provisions of the Familyand Guardianship Code. The analysis mainly concentrates on the issue of establishing paternity of a child conceived through the medically assisted procreation.
