The Online Research – Methods and Ethics

Summary/Abstract: This text, focused on the ethnographic and ethnologic research through the Internet, starts with an overview of the possible and already discussed topics in the area. As the socially active persons, with a culture specific way of life studied by ethnography and ethnology, use the internet communication, the researcher is also obliged to make use of this method and broaden the research-horizon(s). The second section of the text presents some of the types and possible applications of the classic research methods of participant observation and interviewing. The last part is focused on some peculiarities of the established ethics, occuring as a result of the modification of the research-space and which should be implemented during investigations.
