Summary/Abstract: The Mass in H Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach was being composed from 1733 to 1749 during his life and work in Leipzig, when he became familiar with the creative freedom of a „non-obliging“ type, without a special purpose, that appeared as a fruit of an inner demand. It was at this time that he created his works that were not ordered or intended for a definite purpose in the musical practice. The Mass in H Minor, as a whole (due to its length) is practically unusable both for the Roman and the Lutheran worship, but it is characteristic in many respects, it is one of the highest achievements of Bach’s creativity, one of the most significant works in his opus. This paper will present an analysis of the first part of Kyrie eleison of the first movement Kyrie, of the said Mass, from which it will be possible to see the form represented by the five-part choir fugue, by polyphonic procedures and harmonic bonds.
