Dilemmas in Implementing Principles of Family Solidarity, on the Basis of Intergenerational Relationships

Summary/Abstract: This article draws attention to the many dilemmas that arise in the modern family; despite many structural and functional changes, the family continues to face a large range of obligations under an unwritten moral code that requires the mutual provision of various services and forms of support. The first part of the article discusses the essence of family solidarity, while the second part considers the main principles on which this solidarity is based. The third part presents dilemmas connected with implementing principles of family solidarity in regard to the eldest generation in the family, and the fourth part covers dilemmas related to implementing principles of family solidarity in regard to the young generation in the family.
