Summary/Abstract: The essay aims at replying to Doru Pop’s review article to the book Strania istorie a comunismului românesc by Lucian Boia which claims that the what happened during the period between 1948 and 1989 was not communism. Moreover, Romania was a country who needed what’s called the communist experiment. Hence the essay argues that irrespective of how adequate one uses the terminology of social sciences, the years between 1948 and 1989 reflect communism, both as political ideology and as political regime. Therefore, is one thing to pay due attention to concept and it completely another thing to hijack the debate over whether or not was communism in Romania.
