AIR SURVEILLANCE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY. EVOLUTION AND TENDENCIES

Summary/Abstract: The evolution of security at regional and international leve land the new threats that proliferate against national security have contributed to increasing the role of the military component of security. The technological development in the last decades has highlighted the role of surveillance sensors and UAV air platforms in having an accurate image of the battle field and increasing the efficiency of military actions in the theatre of operations. The integration of reconnaissance and surveillance sensors in C4ISR system allows the transmition of data in real time, thus answering information supremacy over the enemy and increased quality of decision-making process and having as result the efficient counteraction of a potential enemy.
