Summary/Abstract: Derivative synonyms are the kind of synonyms which have the same root, different derivational affixes and very similar or identical lexical meaning. The rows of derivative synonyms are not static. They can be formed for the following reason – the derivational neologism is used. 20 new rows of synonyms were discussed in this article. Some of neologisms are used often enough. They can become the part of the active vocabulary.
