Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to answer a question always haunting the private international law researcher: what happens when the (un)desirable foreign element occurs in the vast field of civil actions regarding succession matters? In order to answer this question, we will perform a pragmatic approach of the issues concerning the competent court to settle a succession dispute with foreign element and concerning the recognition in Romania of a foreign award rendered in this field. The legal act that makes the object of this study is the Regulation no. 650/2012 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and acceptance and enforcement of authentic instruments in matters of succession and on the creation of a European Certificate of Succession.
