Summary/Abstract: The aim of presented paper is to offer short preview into the problem of main interpretations of Aristotelian concept of catharsis as have been unfolded throughout the history of western literary criticism and theory of drama. Study can be conceived as a reference to need of deeper analysis of systematic coherency of Aristotle’s ontological framework inherently present in corpus of Aristotle’s texts as an interpretational background and key methodological starting point which can provide more reliable conclusions.
