Logistic planning as a key element of the logistic support system of a postal operator

Summary/Abstract: One of the key aspects of the changes taking place in the recent years on the EU postal market is adjusting by postal operators of its logistics for the new operating conditions. The disappearance of the traditional written correspondence or increasing trade on the Internet, causing critical to the postal market changes in the quantity and quality of delivered shipments. Postal operators are also looking for the new markets and provide logistic services, and thus, supports new types of shipments. The whole logistics support system of postal operators must therefore be planned based on new principles and takes into account the new goals of functioning. The aim of the study is an indication of the critical role of logistics planning for the whole logistics of postal operator’s functioning.
