Summary/Abstract: Scholars in this field consider it useful to distinguish between the effects of globalization taking into consideration each of the milieus of impact: economic, politic and cultural. Reduced to an economic meaning of the concept, globalization can be considered to come into contradiction with economic nationalism and protectionism. From this perspective, globalization is related to the free market economy and neoliberalism; it has some common characteristics with internationalization and it is often interchangeable, even if some prefer to use the term of globalization to widen the gaps between national borders. The rise of the global village implies, therefore, a stronger interaction between the different parts of the world, as the opportunity of personal exchanges increases, as well as mutual understanding and friendship among „international” citizens simultaneously with the creation of the global civilization.
