Evaluation of the Link Between Dominating Work Motives and Job Satisfaction

Summary/Abstract: After Lithuania’s accession to the European Union it is important for organizations to modify themselves also involving their employees as a potential creative power into the process as a presumption for the organizational efficiency. Striving for this aim organizations must change and transform. The problem arises not only concerning the manager’s skills and methods applied, but also concerning the process of making the personnel more active. Therefore the staff, their skills and competences are the factors of high appreciation. In March 2004 a survey of Šiauliai city employees (N = 286) was made and motivation means, which increase personnel motivation, were ascertained. They are: possibility to upgrade qualification, payment rise, good relations with administration, involvement in management and career promotion. Practical significance of the research and its application perspectives are that the means of motivating employees mentioned above, relying on the opinion of city workers, means of solving motivation problems were found and they are aimed at the introduction of the most effective means of motivation in Šiauliai city organizations.
