Summary/Abstract: This paper seeks to address the issue of strategic leadership and relate it to the value creation processes. We conceptualize the construct of strategic leadership, by presenting its definitions, characteristics, elements, and dimensions, as well as describing strategic leaders’ competences. We focus on the concept of inside-out leadership, as well as identify the strategic leadership as a set of contradictions that need to be managed. As a result, we identify a input-output model of strategic leadership, where value creation acts as a dependent variable. Finally, we present empirical research of organizations in Poland, that indicates the level of strategic leadership, shows the ability to reconcile its contradictions and correlates strategic leadership with value creating processes.
