Summary/Abstract: Crowdsourcing means separation of functions, once performed by employees and outsourcing them, in the form of an open on-line call, to an undefined virtual community – the crowd. In the economic practice it has become a megatrend, which drives innovations, collaboration in the field of scientific research, business, or the society. More and more organisations, including public organisations reach for it. One may talk about trust in a situation of readiness for becoming sensitive by one party to the action of the other party based on a conviction that the other party has carried out specific actions, which are important to the trusting party. Although the relation between trust and crowdsourcing seems to be obvious, nonetheless theoretical and empirical studies in this scope are dispersed. There is a lack, above all, of a multilevel approach; from the perspective of the organisation, virtual community, and technology. The aim of the article is searching for the relations between trust and crowdsourcing in the context of public organisations. The analysis of the levels of crowdsourcing and the existing theoretical studies and research results enable formulating of an ascertainment that trust is considered to be the central element and one of the conditions of crowdsourcing projects’ success, initiated also by public organisations.
