Summary/Abstract: Unemployment not only affects those who lose their jobs. Coworkers who are still employed may experience a heavier work load and suffer from anxiety that they too will soon be unemployed. Unemployment and underemployment also affect families and communities. Presented in article psychological theory of work - related and unemployment can be derived from basic conclusion: some elements of the social environment are necessary for mental health. None of these elements both in the workplace and in the case of unemployment causes deterioration of mental health.
