Summary/Abstract: In this article I aim to exemplify and explain how the reader identifies and understands the metaphorical mechanisms. This study has been undertaken in order to provide an overview of these mechanisms both in German and in French advertising message. The examples illustrate how metaphor operates on two domains or how sometimes, metaphor and metonymy work together in a figure of speech.
