Summary/Abstract: The boyar Dimitrie Ramadan has been rediscovered in recent years by two Greek historians (GK Papazoglou, Mahi Païzi- Apostolopolou), as the author of an otherwise completely ignored history. Born in a family of Constantinopolitan dignitaries established in the early seventeenth century in Wallachia and Moldova, this personage was related to many important boyar families of the two Romanian principalities. This article lists our current knowledge of this dignitary who lived in the first half of the following century and whose cultural activity is still surrounded by mystery.
