Benchmarking as a modern management instrument in water and sewage companies – Poland in comparison to european countries

Summary/Abstract: The article depicts the results of benchmarking research in water and sewage systems. The main aim of the article is to demonstrate the necessity of carrying out benchmarking analysis in companies exploiting water and sewage systems in Poland. The results of the benchmarking analysis can be used to improve the effectiveness of that kind of companies and the quality of their services. The results of the research depicted in the article show that there are areas in Polish water and sewage systems that should be a subject of improvement, in particular energy efficiency, loss of water and the reliability of services.
