Summary/Abstract: The gallery of illustrious personalities contains, in a place of honor, Prince Al. Cuza. The memory of the metal makes it persistent, through the centuries, the face and works of the prince. Many such medals are in the collections of the National Museum of History of Romania. According to the subjects, stylistics and engravers the striking of the medals contain three stages. In the first stage - 1857-1862 - we put the medals commemorating the Unionist actions. The second stage - 1862 - 1865 - contains the most beautiful pieces, struck by the elite of the engravers of Paris. These medals commemorate the successes of the prince and his closest collaborators. Similarly, at this stage, belong decorations, medals - decoration and projects that represent a trend of independence of the new state, preoccupation of Prince Cuza since I860. The last stage is represented by posthumous medals commemorating the death of the prince as well as some of his works
