Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the nineteenth century; Apart from large landholdings belonging to the Boyard families, most of the land was the patrimony of the monasteries subject to Mount Athos. All the products took the road to this small monastic state, which pushed the peasants to poverty.Prince Cuza imposed a hard reform, despite the opposition of the boyars and the church. 511,896 peasants become owners of about 3.6 ha each, but the state was not a good administrator of what remained. It was in 1884 that Parliament constituted The Crown Lands, represented by lands that, administered by the Crown, could supplement the very meager amount of the civil list. These 12 well-exploited farms became a source of income, but at the same time the peasants benefited. Schools, workshops, churches, hospitals were built and retreats for the peasants, draw from these farms models for Romanian agriculture
