Summary/Abstract: The article is based on the analysis of differences between a class tutor (understood as a caretaker of a school class or a group of charges, imposed by the decision of the institution), and a tutor chosen in the autonomous way by the approval of both sides. I am trying to analyze, how this distinction influences the relationship between the caretaker and a pupil in the process of educating and bringing up. The basis for these deliberations is also the presentation of the Artistic and Academic Secondary Schools with the special „ALA” program and of the essential principles of the reform of education. Moreover, the important part is also portraying of the tutoring genesis, as a method of an individual work of the teacher with the pupil, already known in 16th century.
