Considerations on The Reasons of Emergence of Shi’i-Usûliyya Thought

Summary/Abstract: With the beginning of occultation period, two major schools of thought has emerged as Akhbâriyya and the other Usuliyya in the Shi’i-Imamiyyah. Shaikh Mufid has an important role in the shaping of Usûli thought’ main lines. However, the process of the system’s formation is also important itself as well as importance of who contributed to an emerged school of thought. This article has emphasized what can be affective to the rising of Usûli thought moving from some clues, by focusing on the main problems experienced by the followers of Hasan al-Askari after the death of him. Moreover, it has tried to present in what points Akhbâri thought differs from Usûli thought, by addressing Imamiyyah scholars’ approaches in solving of problems faced during the occultation period.
