Summary/Abstract: “The guaranteed-quality food” is a definition of products that are manufactured in the systems guaranteeing their specific properties (together with the production process) or specific quality, possessing relevant certificates and marking. Such products include, inter alia, products of organic agriculture, traditional and regional products, and meat products possessing the QAFP, PQS, QMT, and other certificates. Aim of the study: to determine the level of young consumers’ awareness of the guaranteed-quality products and their marking. Methodology: the surveys were carried out in the spring 2014 among 254 individuals aged 20-31. There was applied an author’s survey questionnaire including closed-ended questions with the options of one-off and multiple choice and openended questions. The questions concerned, inter alia, the awareness of marking and guaranteed-quality products, types and frequency of consumption of such food as well as the motives guiding the consumers choosing such products. Findings and conclusions: the carried out surveys show that most young consumers are not familiar with the term “guaranteed-quality food”, they are not aware of marking of such food, either, and they cannot assign the products with relevant marking. Most of them do not buy or consume such products, and this stems mainly from lack of awareness of those products and knowledge of opportunities to buy them. Social implications: the obtained results indicate the need to educate young consumers as regards the guaranteed-quality food and marking thereof. Article category: research.
