Ecological Dilemmas in Development of the Information Society

Summary/Abstract: In her article, the author introduced the notion of information society and knowledge-based economy and their profile. She talked over the stages of development of the information society. The author identified the ecological dimensions of functioning of the information society. They concern: 1) creation, accumulating, storage, and utilisation of information; 2) utilisation of information to build ecological consciousness and realisation of the ecological education; 3) disseminating in the information society pro-ecological ideas, attitudes and businesses; 4) information climate in the information society, connected with the access to ecological information; 5) ecology of the information environment and a man in the information society, and 6) the direct influence of the information society on the natural environment.
