Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the considerations is to present and evaluate a new approach to climate change. Many arguments indicate that climate change escapes human control. It’s hard to consider as a success what has already been achieved in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, adaptive actions shall be taken. The effects of environmental, social and economic climate change will vary considerably regionally. The problem urgently requires a wider and more thorough examination. The European Commission on 16th April 2013 adopted a strategy of adaptation to climate change. It contains instructions and guidance on the main lines of action, aimed to better prepare countries of the European Union to the expected changes and allow minimising the effects of negative impacts on the society and the economy. The paper is conceptual in nature. It contains recommendations on the most desirable courses of action for the European Union.
