Summary/Abstract: The uncontrolled spread of cities is a threat to the development and continuity of cities and also for spatial behaviour. It is also a threat to the sustainable development of the region in four aspects: economy, society, environment, and spatial order. It should be noted that the process is complex and causes irreversible changes in the environment. Especially in suburban areas. The article is about suburbanisation in the context of sustainable development. The author pays a special attention to the demographic aspect of urbanisation and to its impact on the environment.
