Observation on the quality of life of organ donors for transplantation

Summary/Abstract: Organ donation is a highly humane act and very complex psychological issue suggesting a high level of motivation, mainly related to the idea of extending the life of the recipient. Making the decision to donate is a process consisting of a large number of rational and emotional components. In case of successful transplantation procedure, the donor and the recipient develop particular relationship. It poses them at risk and challenges their experience and connection. This paper presents some of the problems faced by these patients in the years after the transplantation. It shows the difficulty to overcome the psychological act of the transplantation and how the topic for the donation and reception reflects on the quality of life of the donor and his family.
