Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the opportunities offered by the Historical Population Database of Transylvania (HPDT) in the study of mortality. The database contains, so far, more than 35,000 deaths registration from localities from different geographic areas, with diverse ethnic and confessional structure.
