Summary/Abstract: This article takes a peculiar element of the lex Aquilia which requires that the wrongdoer must have brought about the harm corpore suo, by his body, by his direct act of force. The article tries to elucidate the interaction of the corpore suo test with the requirements of wrongfulness and fault. A resemblance of the corpore suo test is further traced in the ancient laws of England and contemporary German tort law.
