Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on the „hot“ phase of the Ukrainian crisis as it is covered by theonline editions of some of the western mainstream media: The New York Times, BBC andThe Economist. The content of the paper is developed, using the method of discourse analysis,as well as the method of rhetorical and interpretative analysis. The answers of three researchquestions are provided: what are the images and the suggestions made; what the media messagesare; and to what extent the researched media reflections perform as an impartial referee in theconflict or they serve as an ideological megaphone of the Western policies.
