Summary/Abstract: There are two major sources of insecurity for nations; linked to their sensitive geographical position and unfitting governance whenever overlapping, they may contribute to real social disasters. In the current era of global telecommunications and climate change, it can be argued that the dynamic of any state borders represents historical phenomenon with little relevance in a modern interdependent world. In these difficult times, marked by economic globalization implications managing to terrorism, the proper management of borders has become the crucial political issue worldwide. The present paper identifies a direct relation between the value of competitive strategies, regional markets potential and risks in collaborative partnership management outlining the negative aspects of less considered risks and threats of the social order that can easily become major vulnerabilities of any national security program.
