Possibilities of financing the tasks of local government in Poland by green bonds

Summary/Abstract: Green bonds are considered to be the next stage of market growth. This article looks at the benefits of green bonds and the positive impact they can have on the issuer and investors’ images as socially responsible entities. The authors present the evolution of the green bonds market and assess their observed and potential impact, taking into account public issues. They claim that green bonds are one of the easiest ways to attract investors and they potentially increase issuance size which in turn can contribute to lower costs of financing public tasks by local government.
