Project bonds as a new tool for financing public‑private partnership

Summary/Abstract: The paper looks at the questions related to project bonds as an alternative source of financing investments. In the first section the project finance in public‑private partnership is presented, with special attention given to its legal basis and financial arrangements. Next, the authors discuss the EU’s approach to project bonds which was adopted in various documents. They also give some examples of the projects which were implemented in EU member states under this formula. In the last section challenges and opportunities related to implementation of project bonds in the Polish capital market are covered.
